On Tuesday, November 3rd, five Wake Forest alumni joined together on campus to be a part of a student mentoring program on by the Office of Alumni Engagement. The intent of The Senior Summit: Navigating What’s Next is to help 30+ seniors engage in this process in the supportive environment of alumni interested in investing personally and professionally in their career development while sharing a meal. Thanks to the below alumni volunteers for this event! We could not do it without you.

Marketing/Advertising – Sarah Ingle (’11), Strategist, Content Activation at Pace Communications
Business – Gary Cagle (’03), Vice President of Business Development at Fidelity Bank
Technology – Jon Wright (’08), Project Manager at WF Baptist Health
Medicine/Heathcare – Dr. Thomas Pendergrast (’10, MD ’14), Radiology Resident at WF Baptist Health
Law/Government – Jennifer Lyday (’06), Bankruptcy Associate at Womble Carlyle

Some Feedback from Students about the impact of Alumni at “The Senior Summit″:

  • “The most powerful takeaway was a piece of advise about removing the stigma from the word “busy”. I shared it with my friends when I got home. Keeping a positive frame of mind and being grateful for being here is something we should do every day.” – Class of 2016 Participant
  • “For me, getting general advice from all of the alumni in attendance, especially on how to deal with stress, was really valuable in thinking through strategy moving forward. My favorite part.” – Class of 2016 Participant
  • “This event was extremely helpful because our alumni mentor had a ton of great industry specific advice. I also thought the round robin advice was particularly eye opening thinking about the future.” – Class of 2016 participant

“It was wonderful being back on Wake’s beautiful campus conversing with 2015 versions of my former self.  I very much enjoyed sharing my perspective on life beyond Wake Forest, and I found the students to be animated, engaged, and eager to converse with a Wake graduate who had already taken the steps that they are about to take.  I hope my “words of wisdom” prove helpful to the students who attended the event – at least as helpful as their youthful exuberance and optimism were to me.” – Jennifer Lyday (’06)

The Senior Summit will continue to be a program that connects current students with alumni around a particular career track.
