LGBTQ alumni in the Washington DC area had the opportunity to meet recently with Dr. Angela Mazaris, director of Wake’s LGBTQ Center. They learned about campus resources for students, faculty, and staff, and about the LGBTQ Center’s mission of providing education, advocacy, and support to the entire campus community around questions of gender identity and sexual orientation.

Mazaris also promoted the upcoming event, Rising Voices: a Wake Forest LGBTQIA Alumni Conference. This event will bring together students, faculty, staff, and alumni to discuss current work in LGBTQ scholarship, arts, and public policy, provide mentorship to students, and create an oral history documentary project. All LGBTQ and ally alumni are welcome to attend the conference, which will be held October 23-24. More information can be found at http://lgbtq.wfu.edu/risingvoices/
