In the Alumni Office, we love seeing the demon deacon children of alumni! (Or pictures of alumni when they were little deacons themselves.)
And we figured we weren’t the only ones. Each week, we will be featuring “darling deacons” here on Alumni, So Dear. It’s a chance for alumni parents to share with the Wake Forest community pictures of their children in all of their Black & Gold gear. We’re happy for alumni to take a walk down memory lane and send in any childhood Wake Forest photos of themselves, too.
This week’s Darling Deacon is Nella Lenore Dyksterhouse. She was born on September 22, 2012 at 10:50 a.m. Her proud parents are Jimmy (’06) and Kate Dyksterhouse (’07). Kate wrote in an email to the Alumni Office, “Nella entered the world six weeks early after a complicated pregnancy measuring a whopping 5 pounds 13 ounces and 20 inches long. She stayed in the NICU for three weeks and one of the neonatologists who oversaw her care was also a Wake Forest Alumni! Go Deacs!”
The family is looking forward to next football season when Nella will be waddling (or maybe still crawling!) around the hill while they all cheer on the Deacs together.
We are excited to share another darling deacon next week.
Would you like to be considered for darling deacon of the week? Email your photo and the names of those pictured, your name and class year, and any other related information to email@example.com.
The Office of Alumni Engagement’s mission is to find exciting new ways to connect Wake Forest alumni, friends and family. Once a Deac, always a Deac – and we’re here for you. Each day we leap out of bed humming the fight song, ready to create the moments that keep the spirit of Wake Forest present in your world.
